{"id":529,"date":"2011-12-02T14:29:37","date_gmt":"2011-12-02T14:29:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gbmultimedia.co.uk\/blog\/?p=529"},"modified":"2011-12-02T14:36:12","modified_gmt":"2011-12-02T14:36:12","slug":"pretty-good-tunes-from-2011-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gbmultimedia.co.uk\/blog\/pretty-good-tunes-from-2011-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Pretty good tunes from 2011- #3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gil Scott-Heron &amp; Jamie xx\u00a0 &#8211; I&#8217;ll Take Care of You<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When I heard Jamie xx had remixed the entirity of the last Gil Scott Heron album I felt a combination of trepidation and excitement- its a bold undertaking for anybody to tamper with the work of such a legendary artist, even someone making waves as big as Jamie xx.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately for the universe, the combination of Mr Scott-Herons warming tones with Jamies impeccable production standards led to a superb piece of work. A wonderful listening experience from start to finish with syncopated percussion and sub bass bouncing around while Gil&#8217;s poetic vocals keeping everything steadied.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There were a few tracks off this LP which I could&#8217;ve put down here but I think this one just about takes the cake- the original, which had an air of sadness and yearning, has been uplifted with a reverb washed riff and rolling piano line transforming it into a celebration of this guys longing for his girl.
